Telecommunications & Infrastructure
Scope:
Nationwide network maintenance and fault management
How a telecom company identified 6M+ PLN in annual savings by automating routine network repairs
The challenge
NetWorkS!’s network maintenance division generated enormous volumes of technical data, but none of it was connected to management reporting.
Leadership lacked visibility into:
- The actual cost of handling network incidents
- Which incidents could be automated versus which required engineer intervention
- How much engineering time was spent on repetitive, predictable repairs
Objective
Give leadership full visibility into fault management costs, automate repetitive repairs, and eliminate unnecessary operational spend.
Solution
We analysed how fault management worked in practice, mapping recurring repair patterns, identifying alerts that were generating noise without indicating real network problems, and finding where engineering time was being lost.
From there we:
- Developed logic to filter out alerts with no impact on network quality
- Identified repetitive incidents suitable for automation
- Connected operational data to management reporting in one centralised place
- Delivered a central BI dashboard giving leadership real-time visibility into fault
management costs - Created a reporting tool helping engineers detect unusual network behaviour before it
becomes a problem
Results
The analysis identified 2 sources of significant cost: false alarms flooding the system and requiring costly hardware to process them and real incidents being resolved semi-manually by large teams at high cost in time and money.
This uncovered 6M+ PLN in annual savings and gave management the tools to act on them.
- 6M+ PLN in annual savings identified
- Real-time visibility into fault management costs and performance
- Repetitive manual repairs mapped and ready for automation
- False alerts filtered, reducing unnecessary engineering workload
"Their innovative approach not only helped us achieve our objectives but also allowed us to catalogue and document the newly optimised process, creating a solid framework for our future operations."
